Tips to prepare for your dyno tune:
- Make sure your car has no Check Engine Light codes – Unless items that will be addressed during the tune or work we’re performing prior to the tune. *Important* – We do NOT delete emissions related codes.
- Catalytic converters are REQUIRED if the vehicle was originally equipped with one – per United States EPA. If you would like a recommendation of a high flow cat, contact us and we’ll help.
- Ensure the oil is fresh or has been changed recently, and is at the proper level
- If you have a Subaru EJ25, it is STRONGLY recommended to run 5w40 or 10w40 instead of the recommended 5w30. 5w30 doesn’t offer enough protection for the bearings under heavy load (on the street or on the dyno)
- Subaru FA20DIT can use 5w30 Motul or 5w40 Rotella
- Make sure the spark plugs are in good shape or have been changed recently
- Fill the car with the fuel your car is tuned for, or what you want the car tuned on
- Recommended: 93 Octane 10% ethanol fuel unless discussed otherwise with us
- Runs on the dyno will take significant fuel, so make sure the tank is full. The weight of the fuel doesn’t affect anything on the dyno.
- Make a list of all engine changes, include from air filter to exhaust tip for completeness. It’s better to be more thorough than to miss something.
- Make sure you have no fuel leaks, exhaust leaks, intake leaks, boost leaks, loose couplers, etc.
- Any other leaks, please notify us when scheduling, they may need to be fixed ahead of time
- Again, Make sure you have no boost or intake leaks
- Pressure test and smoke test the system if possible
- Since we have a hub dyno, we will need to take the wheels off. If you have locking lug nuts, have the tool handy for us please.
